Personality: B’vorak is a cantankerous aging dragonrider of a near similar bronze dragon, Kilbeth. While when he was young, he was quite agreeable and was actually quite popular with the ladies and friendly with his fellow riders, but now he doesn’t do much but yell orders and is very angry. The debilitation of his dragon and himself caused him to be this way. After the accident, B’vorak and his dragon where slow to recover mentally from the shock and quickness the event happened and left the pair near death. While they both recovered, the fact that both of them where misshapen and can no longer perform the duties of a dragonrider or with that divulge in the enjoyment of this wonderful union, made them bitter. Rancor tinged the once great bronze Kilbeth and like wise B’vorak has become antisocial and spiteful. For a while B’vorak rejected any comfort with other people and remained bitter in his self forced exclusion, but with the realization that nothing can change the events of the past, B’vorak accepted responsibility for the event and for his place in the weyr. For now he is content in working himself hard in order to loose himself in thought of usefulness and the same goes for his dragon. While still able to use their wits and experience to teach the young, the bronze pair is limited to the ground. He regards others an unable to understand and not many people are compatible enough with him for B’vorak to loosen up and talk more freely too.
Background: Born in Auslukan hold to Bayvie, the niece of the holder, and her husband, Karoc, a successful hunter of that area, B’vorak grew up a relatively happy child. Then Balvorak, he added his father with his trade with the help of his older brother while his younger sister was expected to help their mother with her trade as a seamstress. His father was traditionalist and even though Balvorak’s sister desired to help like her two brothers, his father forbid it and his mother would not cross her husband. So Balvorak was raised in a highly traditionalistic home and grew strong in his suspected role as a hunter and the supporter. At fifteen, a dragon from Snow Valley Weyr came to Auslukan on search and no one have thought that Balvorak would turn out to be acceptable for dragons. Being a man of his own ways, Balvorak went to the weyr with a few other chosen young men even if his presence was needed with his family.
Balvorak thrived in the environment of the Weyr even though he often voiced his opinion about what a woman was good for. While he didn’t directly say it, Balvorak didn’t approve of women on any other dragon than a gold and refused to make any lasting friendships with the women he though where in violation of their natural roles. His desire of becoming a dragonrider kept him there as a candidate and also kept his mouth shut for the most part about his feelings. He didn’t impress until his 17th turn however, but the wait was worth it when a tiny bronze came to him. B’vorak formed an extremely strong bond with his bronze Kilbeth over the years of their weyrlinghood and the pair where exceptionally bright. B’vorak graduated with no problem and seemed to have a brilliant future as a bronzerider. He fit the role quite well and was determined to be a propionate figure in the weyr so he started with his newly assigned wing.
While B’vorak tried to gain the respect of the elder riders, Kilbeth grew in to a quite impressive bronze. His dark hide was attractive and he was a good side for bronzes. Bravery in threadfall was no problem for them and they were complete show offs most of the time. Sometimes their action proved a little fool hearted and at times just plain dangerous, B’vorak never put his dragon in jeopardy. In fact, Kilbeth was just as an adventure seeker as his rider and rallied the youth on. Being placed in the wingsecond position when he was 20, calmed the pair down slightly with the extra responsibility placed on them. At 25, B’vorak and Kilbeth where transferred to FarNorth in a rider exchange that happened so often and B’vorak was extremely excited to be going to new territory. That first year there, B’vorak and Kilbeth made a name for themselves with the regular FarNorth wing and made many friends. He soon met many lovely ladies of which he adored enough to plant his seed accidentally. The first year he was there a son was born to him and the next year twin girls with another woman. Well of course he was not expected to raise the children and had not much to do with his offspring, but of course he did not forget they where their and even loved them.
At 30 turns of age, B’vorak transfer was made final as he was advanced to wingleader of Night Wing. His sense of responsibility grew and he seemed fit for the job. Kilbeth and B’vorak seemed to take the new title in stride. At 13, Kilbeth caught his first queen, a momentous achievement for the young male. Although he was notorious at catching the greens, Kilbeth had not yet had the chance of catching a queen until now. The clutch was a good side and Kilbeth was smug as can be. B’vorak’s live seemed to be as good as it could get and for three years he and his bronze lived as a wingleader and gained experience at leadership.
On his 34th name day, there happened to be threadfall and B’vorak lead his wing unto battle with the age-old fiend that plagued Pern. In his prim and full of strength, the pair had nothing much to worry about. They have been doing this for years now and nothing could ever surprise them, or so they though. Perhaps it was overconfidence or just plain bad luck, but while blinking out of between Kilbeth swiped a large tangle of thread spores and jerked his wing up fast enough to send his in a barrel roll. Distracted and trying to balance himself, Kilbeth did not notice a larger clump coming down on top of him and his rider. B’vorak didn’t notice it too for it happened to fast and the sear on Kilbeth’s wing was occupying his concentration. Before Kilbeth was even turned up right, the clump hit him just under the wing by his rear right leg. Roaring with pain, the bronze transferred himself to the weyr, but he was turned oddly and already badly burned. His right wing’s main sail was tattered and his searing hindered with the massive threadscore all along his right side. Kilbeth entered the air to low to the ground and landed harder than he intended to. The awkwardness of his landing caused the bronze to roll over on to his left wing when his legs gave way from him during landing. The wing’s elbow joint failed and the break so bad that Kilbeth would never fly again if he lived at all.
It to nearly a turn for Kilbeth to recover from the wounds they received. B’vorak’s legs where burned by the thread and he healed quickly enough but would always have a limp on his left leg from the impact of their landing. Kilbeth’s left wing was shattered and had to be splinted closed for any repair at all. An infection set in to the bones that where exposed to the air and unfortunately, Kilbeth’s wing could not be saved. While the healers where lucky enough not to have to amputate, the joint could not open fully and deposits made all the brakes ridged and larger than normal. The hide of the right side of the bronze was twisted and discolored with scares and the mainsail of the right wing could not grow back completely.
Their recovery was celebrated by the weyr, but B’vorak just couldn’t seem to deal with the loss of the ability of his dragon and blamed himself for the accident. Both dragon and man seemed to plunge in to deep depression and B’vorak drifted from the people who he once called friends. His feelings of guilt drove him to be bitter to others and resent the events that had happened to him. The feelings of B’vorak had also transferred to his dragon and Kilbeth grew snappy and aggressive to every other dragon and person of the weyr, even including B’vorak at times. The pair would have stayed this way, if not for the intervention of one of his closes friends. J’lion knew B’vorak even from their time at Snow Valley, but the pair didn’t become friends until after they both had transferred. Trough a drawn out agument and with some coxing, J’lion managed to get B’vorak to agree to become his assistant as a Weyrlingmaster. The feeling of once again being useful has given B’vorak a reason to be in contact with others and once again is starting to feel important to the weyr.
Dragon's name: Kilbeth
Age: 19
Color: dark bronze
Dam/Sire: Gold Cecilkath/ bronze Seartath
Other Info: Kilbeth has a massive scare along his right side and back. It extends from the base of the tail over his thigh and on his side up to his rib cage. The mainsail of the right wing is wrinkled and missing a large hunk of it. The area of the inicial threadscore is a lighter and more grayish in color than the rest of the bronze dragon. His left wing was broken in many places and can no longer open all the way. Kilbeth holds his elbow out from his body slightly because of a deposit his body placed their to stabilize the joint and there for rendered it useless.
