General Description: grown in vast, well-protected stretches of space-- called as birthing grounds, cal'hertyei are the living spaceships of the three ancient races known as sha'mrn, sha'yienn and thaliisst`tclesrei. Begining their lives as fairly simple structures of living crystal, they grow into starships partially made of energy-- considered the most beautiful(or at least impressive) ships in any Multiverse. But while a cal'hertyei's growth is certainly subject to some parameters-- such as its size and that it is supposed to support a certain number of passengers comfortably, it is allowed to direct its own shape according to its wishes. Thus some may appear relatively simple, while others are creations of complex beauty or taking inspiration from animals and plants throughout the Multiverse. In size they may vary from being little larger than a semi-trailer to the size of a gas-giant planet.
Considered fully sapient beings by their masters, individual cal'hertyei are always permitted to choose their commanders and whether they will be used as military crafts-- which always involve more risk. To make this easier, they also spend years training with various crews and people after they are old enough to leave the birthing grounds, in order to learn to work with others and learn to know each of the three races. While almost as bonded to their crystal guardians as the guardians are bonded to them, a cal'hertyei will usually develop a deep loyality to its crew and masters. And even those who don't, will usually stick around just for the fun of it.

Special Abilities: while not truly magic-users, cal'hertyei are capable of handling and directing immense amounts of energy-- feeding on energy as well as using it as a weapon. The largest are also capable of destroying a solar-system within a few minutes, with a single blast. They are also telepathic, and can recieve as well as send over huge distances(even between universes it is believed).

Oddities: if not as strongly as to its crystal guardian, a cal'hertyei will Bond to its chosen commander, allowing instant communication and a vital understanding of each other. Unless the commander is killed, the Bond will remain for the entirety of the ship's lifespan(often up to 10.000 years).

Mental Abilities: the intelligence of a cal'hertyei is considerable, well beyond that of a human, and each will also have a distinctive personality. Although not all will choose that path, many also welcome a good fight, the more challenging the better.

Breeding: cal'hertyei are grown, starting their lives as a 'seed' constructed in a laboratory before they are transfered to a birthing ground where they remain until they have reached their design size.
