Character's name: Merolah
Gender: female
Age: 14
Rank: candidate / apprentice woodsmith
Haircolor: medium blonde
Eyecolor: brown
Complexion: medium
Height: 5'6"

Personality: Quiet and shy, Merolah grew up a sheltered life and even after two years of apprenticeship as a woodsmith and then eight months of being a candidate, she still shys away from socialization. Bright and considerate, she knows her limits and will never try to do more than she can, and at times can be overcautious to the point of being resistant to even menial chores that might be dangerous. She has not figured out why any searchrider in their right mind would ever think she could be a proper dragonrider, but she is now somewhat hopeful to have a dragon partner - even if she has not come to terms with weyr morals. Surrounded by a bunch of weyrbrats who grew up knowing they would one day be a candidate, she sometimes feels overwhelmed by their morals, like she must change them or else not fit in, but she hasn't fell into that stage yet - Merolah keeps to the candidate barracks and brushes off advances.

Background: Born in FarNorth Hold, the daughter of a Journeyman Woodsmith and his wife, Merolah was an only child due to complications during her mother's pregnancy and was therefore protected and cherished. Her parents even went to the point to keep her in the safety of their quarters at the woodsmith hall two miles from FarNorth, raising Merolah to be the perfect child that every Pernese parent would dream of - polite, obiedient, pretty, and accepting of instructions. Merolah's parents would not even for the most part allow her very far from their protective eye without someone that her parents could have trusted.

Her early days were very boring, therefore. When she turned twelve, she was apprenticed to her father's craft for a better education, but never with the expectation to one day become a journeywoman - even Merolah knew that she was just there to be under her father's eye. Right after her fourteenth birthingday she was Searched for a clutch only three weeks after her arrival, where she did not Impress. She has since attended one more hatching, but she is currently still a candidate, receiving her education without the extreme orders. She is split over whether she really does want to Impress or not, possibly hoping to return to FarNorth Hold to continue her apprenticeship.

Goldendragon- 02-22-2005
Character's name: Jrallian
Gender: male
Age: 13
Rank: candidate
Haircolor: dark brown with a slightly reddish tint
Eyecolor: green
Complexion: light brown
Height: 6’2
Personality: Jrallian is a responsible young man, but does have a mischievous streak to him like most thirteen year old boys. Being a child of the WeyrlingMaster made him very aware of his responsibilities and the responsibilities as a dragonrider. Jrallian is very intelligent and was often not very challenged as a young child, which lead to trouble and impish pranks. Jrallian is very well thought of through out the weyr and has taken a mixture of his parents attributes. He is adventurous and wild much like his mother at a young age, but with a great sense of humor and an easygoing attitude like his father. His good morals where set young and he will never betray his feeling of what’s right and wrong, but at times can be the most stubborn person about his ways.
Background: Jrallian is the first child of three for Bronzerider J’lion and Goldrider Nrilla. He was born in the Weyr and will most likely never leave. Ever since he was born, he was nearly guaranteed a place among the wings of FarNorth. His youth was mostly menial and boring as he worked up to this new exulted possession as candidate. Being busy with their jobs, his parents where not around much for his upbringing but of course that was the way about the weyr. He did well with fostering and became a well-rounded individual and realized that being dragonriders where important to his parents, but he knew he was never forgotten by J’lion or Nrilla. Jrallian’s status changed to candidate as soon as he was old enough at twelve turns, but for that first year he missed the opportunity to stand because of a slight injury. He broke his leg when he was thrown from a runner, but that didn’t get him down. He knows that there will be other opportunities for him to stand and he has been patiently waiting for the next clutch.

Aqya- 02-27-2005
Played by: NeouofPern

Character's name: Talmir
Gender: Female
Age: 16 and one half Turns
Rank: Candidate
Hair color: Talmir has two features of which she is immensely proud of, one
of which is her hair. Some might raise eyebrows at her obvious care for the
precious waterfall, as there is nothing so special about it. Having faded
from the almost white blonde of childhood, it is currently a mix of brown
and blonde (AKA dirty blonde). But at the right angles, when the light hits
it, it almost appears to be slightly reddish. Talmir’s hair is kept long,
almost to her waist, simply for the vanity everyone possesses. It is rather
straight, with only a slight wave in it.
Eye color: This is the second feature that Talmir is proud of. Her eyes are
unique to some of Pern, as they appear differently depending on what she is
wearing. At one aspect, they might appear gray, at another blue, or at a
last, green.
Complexion: Talmir has very pale skin. As a result, she tends to burn in a
matter of minuts. A light bridge of freckles graces her nose, as well as
across her arms.
Height: Around 5'7

Personality: Talmir has a very quick, very sharp mind. Unfortunately,
things tend to slip off her tongue before she has fully thought of their
reprucussions. Often she is found contemplating various facets of life,
much to the chagrin of those who know her. No one wishes to hear "But why
is that so" while eating dinner. As she ponders deeply, Talmir can get
quite melancholy at times. During these periods, almost nothing gets her
out of a dark mood. She tends to also get somewhat snappish, though usually
she is quite amicable, though not talkative. Conversation just seems...
pointless, when one could be reading or doing something else artistically
related.

Background: A short, passioniate affair between a young woman living in a
rural hold and a visiting Harper resulted in Talmir. Though such accidents
often have "sob stories", Talmir was far more lucky. The Harper, with grave
courtesy, gave up all chances of becoming a Master to marry the woman once
he returned, a year later. The young Talmir was thus given an early
education from her father, though she rejected the household knowledge her
mother offered (too boring, she says). Talmir inheritated her mother's
dreamy thinking, working upon the hold always in a sort of half trance. The
creatures seemed to like her well enough (well for some odd reason the
herdbeasts did not). No one was quite surprised when she was Searched, as
Talmir held onto her dreams of being a dragonrider far longer than any
other children had.

Character's name: Dimia
Gender: female
Age:16
Rank: candidate
Haircolor: brown with reddish blonde highlights
Eyecolor: hazel
Complexion:fair
Height: 5'5"
Personality: She is quite the girly-girl. Dimia is a is slightly stuborn and likes to be in control of the things around her. At first she may seem a little to controling, but she is always fair with others. Once you get to know her, you will always want her on your side. Dimia often playes the protecter role of others who might be unable to defend for themselves. She is sweet and caring at heart, but will never stand for being walked over or allowing other to be walked on. Unlike her father, Dimia loves to explore and enjoys going to gathers at the Hold.

Background: The oldest child of Storage Cavern Manager Laered and his weyrmate Merka, Dimia was raised by her parents with some help from the creche. She was always very feminine, playing with dolls and generally staying inside with her mother when her younger brother Lorris was out with his friends playing in the snow. After the birth of her youngest brother, Dimia learned how to take care of young children, and was actually quite good at it, but when the time came around for her to either Apprentice or become a candidate, she stayed at the Weyr. For four turns she has been passed over every go around, but she is actually pleased she has not Impressed yet - she is pretty afraid of mating flights. Dimia has stayed close to her parents, and sees them as much as possible - even sometimes interfering with her chores so she could visit her mother to tell her about her troubles. While she has managed to avoid Impressing so far, she still does dream about Impressing gold and becoming a Weyrwoman one day.

Shadow- 03-16-2005
Played by: Shadow.

Character's name: Jaekialla
Gender: female
Age: 17
Rank: Jr. Journeywoman Smith/ Candidate
Haircolor: black
Eyecolor: brown
Complexion: light brown
Height: 5’3”
Personality: Jaekialla is fairly quite and reserved, but she has a hungry mind. She inherited her mother’s love of knowledge and skill, so it was inevitable that Master Ivendella to teach her only daughter her trade. Her nose is almost always buried in some documents of the Smith trade or some instructional documents from the other halls. While she is good at the mental aspect of her trade she is not to good at the labor part. Jaekialla loves to design intricate jewels and artwork of which she usually leaves the manufacturing of them to her skilled mother. Some would say Jaekialla is a hard person to get to know, because she has a knack at looking uninterested and even cold to those who try to make conversation with her, but she really is just a little shy and more than that often is lost in thought.

Background: Jaekialla is the only daughter of Ivendella, the Weyr’s Master Smith and a fellow Smith Jreaki. Her father Jreaki died when she was still a baby due to an accent involving his trade, but her mother never refused to tell her daughter about the only man who managed to catch her heart. Ivendella raised her daughter with only a little help from the crèche, and manage to spoil her daughter. However, spoiled she may be at an early age, Jaekialla remain as reserved and thankful as ever. She was curious of the craft her mother was always working at so, Ivendella allowed for her daughter watch and learn with her as she made the commissions of the Weyr. Jaekialla took in the information eagerly and soon became understanding in the ways of the craft and was at the level of an apprentice. With her mothers expert teaching Jaekialla soon showed signs of becoming an appt smith. She flew through lessons, but had some trouble with technical aspects of smelting. Jaekialla showed a skill at designing and working with precious metals that rivaled Ivendella’s own skill at jewelry making. So Jaekialla concentrated on that aspect of the craft since she wasn’t as apt at the invention as Ivendella or at industrial smithing. Jaekialla never even thought about standing as a candidate until one day when she was 15, a green dragon stopped her to get a better look at the scrawny smith. Well the dragon seemed to think she would be good for a dragonrider so Jaekialla might as well stand as long as it didn’t interfere with her smithing. Well being a candidate and an apprentice was a little harder than expected, but so far Jaekialla is managing. So far she has only stood at one hatching, but will keep it up until either she impresses or until she is to old to. Jaekialla still continues to gain skill with her mother and at 17 she managed to gain all the skill she needed to become a Journeywoman and so was promoted not that long ago.

Aqya- 03-25-2005
Played by: Kuroi

Character's name: Kelatrius
Gender: Male
Age: 15
Rank: Canididate / Senior Apprentice Harper
Haircolor: Brown
Eyecolor: Green
Complexion: Tan
Height:5’7”
Personality: Kelatrius is a bold, sometimes outspoken young man who knows his way around the Weyr, and how things work. One of those prankster types, he generally does not associate with holdbred girls, thinking they are way too conservative for someone like himself. He dislikes that he has to spend part of his time as an 'apprentice' to the Weyrharper, but he suffers through it none the less, taking to heart that he is also a candidate and that 'hopefully' he will soon be a dragonrider. Even though he is the grandson of a Weyrwoman and a one-time Weyrleader, V'lodris, he does not force it down some people's throats, unlike his older sister Keljorie.

Background: The grandson of former Weyrwoman Anjorie (rider of gold Fysaith) and Weyrleader V'lodris, who stayed in the role for all of one mating and hatching, Kelatrius is the son of deceased bronzerider K'loris and creche worker Maldaisa. Clearly weyrbred as the sun is bright, Kelatrius grew up learning the skills of the prank trade from candidates and weyrlings who recruited weyrbrats for their devious purposes. When he turned eight his father was killed in Threadfall, but since Kelatrius barely knew him, he did not really care - he went on with his life oblivious to the goings of his father's demise. He still wanted to be a dragonrider. At his twelfth birthingday he was selected to be a candidate, but did not Impress his first hatching, or his second.....and for Kelatrius, the son of a bronzerider, grandson of a bronzerider and a Weyrwoman, he expected to be the first one to Impress, but he didn't. His mother achieved for him an apprenticeship with the Weyrharper on the side, helping to arrange lessons with the weyrbrats and also work on his literacy skills. Three turns have gone by and he still has not Impressed, even though even he cannot deny that he has learned a lot from his apprenticeship, even though he is not the best apprentice of all time.

Aqya- 03-30-2005
Played by: Tygress

Character's name: Pendra
Gender: female
Age: 16
Rank: candidate
Haircolor: light brown
Eyecolor: grey-green
Complexion: fair, she tends to spend much of her time within the weyr, but that's starting to change and she's begining to aquire a light tan
Height: 5'5

Personality: Spoiled, shy, awkward, naive. Pendra has probably had a crush on most of the bronze and brown riders at some point or another. Most consider her shyness to acctually be a kind of smug superiority, especially those who didn't grow up with her. Pendra is a great beauty, but the beauty is new and she's confused both by the looks she gets from men and from the glares she gets from her female peers. She does do some awkward flirting, smiles and giggles, blushes and batting eyelashes, but she normally retreats soon after. Such flirting combined with her looks might very well get her in trouble.

Background: Her mother is Piera a woman of the lowercaverns known for her weaving. Penda is Piera's only child and thus has been spoiled by her mother and her mother's lovers male and female. Pendra spent most of her childhood within the lowercaverns watching her mother work, usually on gather dresses and embroidery. She grew up a weyrbrat but because of her shyness rarely took part in the more mischievious stunts of her peers. As she grew Pendra sadly realized she had no talent for her mother's work and began helping in the kitchens where she was able to interact more with others. This is when her habitual crushes began. She'd sit for hours in the evening talking to Piera about this or that rider and wasn't he so handsome and strong, etc. Pendra was a late bloomer and deep down thought herself very plain without a chance of acctually attracting any of the riders she was interested in. And then her curves began developing and she began to be noticed. She's yet to realize just how attractive she is and often believes the attention she recieves is just the men being polite or to the other extreme teasing her. She was happy to join the ranks as a candidate 2 years ago but thus far has been disappointed.

Other Info: most likely bisexual like her mother though so far she's only had crushes on men. Attracted to confidence and strength.
