And though she can't use that where she's now, she still has minor telepathy and empathy. She can still sense currents of energy though, like electricity, but cannot manipulate it.
Being about the height of a large african elephant and 17 meters long, she's quite capable of defending herself. It takes a lot to penetrate the scales covering her body, but she can still be injured by the kinetic energy of a blast.

Jarod is a cast-out from a city state's soldier programs. He was to be educated in military covert operations, but his body was not fit enough for a soldier.
He did however have a keen technological mind which allowed him to live on in the facilities for several years longer than what was usual.
Before the strange teleportation he was making his living by supplying the local militant groups with technological gizmos and illegal net hook-ups.
His training and knowledge makes Jarod the ultimate survivor in a techno-society.
