Dragon Shadow

General Description: like their name implies, the dragons shadows bears a resemblance to shadows. Shadow-like, a dragon shadow's head is adorned with spines, antennae and wisp-like feathers tipped with sparks of ghostly light-- false sparks swirling around the head when it move quickly and suddenly. A row of delicate spines-- also they tipped with ghostly light that flickers as the spines shift and flexes, run down the neck, and and all the way to the tip of the long and slender tail. If it choose to let someone get a good look at it, a dragon shadow is truly beautiful-- long and slender of build with velvety-- yet crystalline black of color and with coldly glowing eyes swirling with purples and blues. The wings are long and elegant, fragile spines adorned with ghost-sparks grow along the top of each wing-rib and similar sparks shimmers faintly at the spines growing from the back of each leg.
However, the dragon shadows got their names from their ability to remain unseen even when standing in plain sight-- and they will more often than not show nothing more than themselves than a confusing shape of pale, shifting shadows that are just strong enough to suggest the shape of a dragon. While a dragon shadow will sometimes choose to take a student of a mortal race, teaching that student in the art of magic as well as bringing on knowledge of anicent times and other worlds and universes. Such students will never remain the person they was-- the personality may change and sometimes also the students appearance. Although it's never anything obvious-- more like that the student takes on some of the shadowy appearance of the teacher..
While they is an anicent race, the dragon shadows seem determined to keep their origin and exact nature a secret, they have also on several occations displayed a certain interest in the doings of mortals-- often observing them without revealing their presence(usually).

Special Abilities: although they are able to travel anywhere no matter the distance, move through solid objects, cloak themselves and speak/communicate telepathically, the dragon shadows claim that they don't use magic. Although it may be linked to their telepathic ability, dragon shadows also seem to be able to sense the approach of other lifeforms, even when that lifeform teleports in-- well before the 'lifeform' itself appears.

Size at birth: perhaps 3-4 meters long.
Size at maturity: probably around 70-90 meters.
Time to maturity: several millenias.
