Ea/Edan Dragon

General Description: the ancestors of the lenthean dragons, the Ea dragon(sometimes known as the Edan dragon), have little in common with their descendants except for their basic body shape(not including horns, spikes/spines etc..). Unlike in the lenthean dragons, the gender of a Ea dragon is not determined by color and the colors rarely interbreed with each other. The Ea dragons are also noticeably larger(being measured in meters rather than feet), and while all colors are capable of fire and air elemental magic, their talents are determined by color.
Somewhat aloof beings, the Ea dragons only interact with less magically inclined beings such as humans when strictly neccesary-- although most do tend to befriend a few individuals who he or she considers worthy of such attention. While Ea dragons can live just about anywhere(some has been known to make their lairs under lakes or within forests, they are most often found in mountaineous areas-- usually living in groups of 4-10(of all ages). Despite being carnivorous, Ea dragons can go for weeks without eating, and when they do have to hunt-- they make sure to hunt in a different location each time(even if they have to fly for days). An adult Ea dragon will usualy need to eat 3-4 cow-sized creatures every third week to remain healthy.
However, after they were forced to leave Earth for a new home several thousand years ago, the anicent Ea dragons are believed to be extinct after a war between them and the races of humans and elves at the planet Lentheas. But while the original Ea dragons are most likely gone, there are rumors suggesting that efforts are being made by magic-users to 'resurrect' them using genetic material from the lenthean dragons.

Special Abilities: all Ea dragons have a inate talent for elemental magic within the areas of air and fire(most noticeably manifested in their fire 'breathweapon'). They are also capable of telepathy, weaving illusions and limited shapechanging(this is an exhaustive process and a shapechanged dragon cannot stay in the alternate form for more than a few hours). It is also believed that some Ea dragon have the ability to 'superimpose' their minds on the minds of other beings-- seeing/hearing/feeling what the host does, and in some cases take complete control.
However, some dragon, like the blues-- are capable of far more extensive magic and are not limited by simply elemental magic.

Mental Abilities: as intelligent as a above average to genius-level human. Unlike their lenthean descendants, the Ea dragons obvious doesn't need to bond with another sapient creature.

[Browns]
70-80 meters long.
The rarest of the colors, browns are never found as leaders in the society of the Ea dragons, but due to their considerable telepathic talent-- they serve as advisors and teachers. Browns are also noted for their intelligence and they seem to be
enjoying interacting with individuals of other species. Browns have a single spiral horn growing from their forehead, and a tripple row of spikes run down the spine.

[Reds]
70-75 meters long.
Quite often found as leaders among the Ea dragons, reds are intelligent, determined and have a knack for finding solutions to most problems. However, they also have a tendency to be stubborn and pridefull, certainly not the easiest to deal with of dragonkind. In addition to being able to breathe fire, reds have the unique ability to spit a paralyzing gas which they use to disable an attacker or when hunting. Reds have two horns curving backwards from above their eyes, and a doubble row of spikes run down their spines. Their tails also ends in a 'blade' of hardened hide.

[Silvers]
65-72 meters long.
While perhaps not the largest when it comes to lenght, silvers tends to be the most physicaly powerfull-- making them fast and endurant-- but not noticeably agile fliers. Silvers are more easily angered than most of the other colors and they have a tendency to be a bit too sure of themselves-- resulting in that they often fly into confontrations without much thought for the consequences (although they usually gain a bit more sense with age). Silvers has a thorn-shaped horn set at their muzzle between the nostrils and a 'mane' of spikes connected by scale-covered hide runs from the middle of the forehead and ends at the base of the tail.

[Bronzes]
58-65 meters long.
The protectors of eggs and dragonlings, bronzes are the least likely to ever resort to violence unless the nurseries they protect are attacked. They are mild-mannered and seem to be more than happy with acting as guardians and teachers for the eggs and younglings of any dragons. As they aren't fighters, bronzes have rid themselves of horns and back-spikes, but they do have a row of bone knots running down the middle of their backs.

[Blues]
50-58 meters long.
While they may not exel in other fields of learning, blues are THE magic-users among the Ea dragons. Not restricted to only elemental magic, there's little that the blues cannot accomplish within the field of magic as long as they have the patience, endurance and intelligence. Prefering non-violent solutions, blues will always seek to subdue any oponent through magic before resorting to inflicting acctual physical/mental harm to someone. Blues has two horns curving back from the top of their heads, with a smaller pair growing from above their eyes. They also have the distinctive doubble row of spikes that can be seen at the lenthean
dragons, as well as the red Ea dragons.

[Golds]
50-58 meters long.
The golds have no magical abilities at all with the exception of some minor elemental fire magic, however-- it is in the field of telepathy that gold Ea dragons are truly noted. Capable of communicating telepathicaly over any distance, as well as being capable of reading the minds of anyone-- golds are almost strong enough to vie with the browns in this field. Golds have a pteranodon-like comb curving
backwards from the back of their heads, and a tribble row of delicate spines run from between their nostrils to the forehead.

[Greens]
45-50 meters long.
Being the most numerous of the dragon colors, greens are excellent fliers who seems to love the challenge of flight and who often compete among each other through arranged fights and races including speed, agility and endurance. Another trait common among the greens are their interest in other races-- most greens can spend years among mortal races such as humans and elves, to learn, discuss and simply have fun. Another thing that sets the greens appart from the other colors is their manes of delicate spines and feather-like scales, resembling the mane of a lion, but glittering with opalescence among the green.

[Blacks]
40-45 meters long.
The blacks are incredibly strong and endurant-- capable of outflying any other color if they put their mind to it, and being as pridefull as they are, most won't hesistate to remind others of that fact. However, fortunatly the females tend to be a bit more relaxed about it, while they certainly won't hesistate to show off either-- if the opportunity is there. While they often lacks the patience to truly study a matter, blacks are often eager to explore new things-- books and stories being particulary facinating to them.
Blacks has a single row of heavy spikes running down their backs, and on each side of their heads is a row of slender thorn-shaped horns, begining at the 'nose horn' and ending at the back of the head.

[Steels]
35-43 meters long.
Steels are the true warriors among the Ea dragons. Strong, fast, intelligent and with a strict moral code, steels are almost always trained to become fighters from the moment they are old enough to make the choice. While steels can be a bit easily angered from natures side, they are quite good at controling this trait-- a steel will almost never loose control and attack someone who can't truly defend himself or herself. However, it is just because of that the steels choose to live appart from others most of the time-- only approaching others during mating or clutching, or for learning purposes. Slender, yet wiry of build, steels are very like reds except for in size and color.

[Crystals]
30-35 meters long.
The crystal dragons are considered the most beautiful among the Ea dragons, and except for the browns-- they are the most intelligent. Crystals are nimble of build, and with their shimmering scales, they are a beautiful sight both when flying and when at the ground. While quite rare, crystals are among the colors who most often interact with other sapient races, and they also spend a lot of their time studying.
It's not unusual that a crystal dragon will have a extensive library in his or her lair. However, when angered, a crystal dragon will be a terrible opponent, never giving up before an appology have been given or the offender has been properly punished. Crystals have a 'crown' of slender, curving spikes growing from the back of their heads and a tripple row of spines run down their spines-- the spines of the middle one being the tallest(sometimes growing to over a meter tall).
