Greenhide

Homeworld/plane: the homeworld of the greenhides is the planet S'mira, which they share with the greyhides. The main cities of the greenhides can be found at the densely forested, equatorial sub-continent Vha'brir.

Climate/terrain: as a race who evolved in their planets equialent of rain forests, the greenhides still prefer to settle in forested areas even if they have long since made the jump to becoming a race with starfaring capabilities. Even today, their larger spaceships contains habitats with plants and trees from their homeworlds, and any planets they have chosen to settle on have been terraformed to accomodate flora and fauna from their homeworld.

Mental abilities: considered to have genius-level intelligence, greenhides are talented within the areas of mathematics and physics-- which have made them one of the most technologically advanced races in the Multiverse alongside such races as the greyhides and the eluai. However, unlike their greyhide cousins, the greenhides have retained most of their ability to feel emotions and empathy-- which is often reflected in the complex construction of their spaceships.

Special Abilities: telepathy and strong empathy. Usually one in 100 greenhides are born with the Talent, although not all choose to learn how to use it.

Society: despite their advanced technology, most greenhides have chosen to keep their cities fairly simple-- often built up among the trees in their favored types of forests, their cities are made to look 'primitive' while still using advanced materials, and they use no more technology than what's needed to make life comfortable but not luxurious. Still, their schools are quite advanced-- students are taught the basics during their first ten years, and after that they are allowed to choose one area of interest that they wish to work within. If no adequate teachers are available in the subject a student have chosen, the student are sent off to a suitable teacher in another greenhide colony, or to one of the schools run by the Ring.
However, no matter what they choose, all greenhides are expected to serve at least a couple of years as a crewmember at a greenhide or greyhide ship-- preferably on a ship where the crew is a mix of the two races.
The greenhides are also more friendly and socieable with other races than the greyhides, and it`s not unusual for groups of varying sizes to settle at any inhabited planet where they get permission to do so. Having retained the complex sound-language of their forest-dwelling ancestors, not unlike bird-song, many greenhides have made a name for themselves as singers. As they have a great interest in the written word, greenhides are also found as authors and historians, their writings being quite popular throughout the multiverse.

Description: the greenhides, or kho`cyla, originate from the same planet as the greyhides. But while they bear some resemblance to their cousins, there are many differences. Their skin is green and seems to be made up of thousands of tiny scales, the large eyes are yellow and cat-like, although other colors occationally occurs. Another difference is that the greenhides are smaller than their cousins, rarely becomming taller than around 4 feet and they don`t appear quite as skinny. As already mentioned, the greenhides share a common ancestor with the greyhides, but the greenhides evolved at a sub-continent by the equator of their planet of origin. If you ask a greyhide, the greenhides might be considered slighly less evolved as they still eat meat and plant matter-- their digestive system being somewhat similar to that of other humanoids. The teeth of a greenhide makes it clear that their ancestors were predators, the teeth being designed to deal with meat, however-- in the past they have made a few changes in their own design that allows them to chew and digest plant matter as well.
Size at birth: 10-15 cm 'tall'.
Size at maturity: 4-4.3 feet tall.
Time to maturity: 30 years.

Combat: as one of the more powerfull races in terms of technology, greenhides still shun combat whenever possible. However, when there is no other choice-- whether in a well equiped spaceship or physical combat, they are likely to make quick use of whatever tools they have available and disable the opponent as quickly as possible. But as they are not very physically strong, a greenhide will not stand much of a chance in a direct fight without some kind of technological weapon or if the area contains trees or some other kind of cover where small size along with agility and speed is an asset.

Race weaknesses: while not really fragile, the small size and slender build of a greenhide makes him or her poorly equiped in fights against enemies of other races. While doing quite well in cases where speed and agility is an advantage, a greenhide's scull is often somewhat fragile, and a blow that would leave a human with nothing more serious than a concussion-- may easily kill a greenhide.
