Hill Beast

General Description: distantly related to the ferret sprite, also the hill beast is a creature in the same family as pixies, elves and other similar creatures of terran 'mythology'.
Appearing mostly like small spitz-type dogs(a bit similar to such dogs as the icelandic spitz), hill beasts can from a distance be mistaken for a ordinary dog.. The long fur of a hill beast is various shades of red or brown, or mixes of those-- sometimes with slight markings of black or grey. The eyes of a hill beast are large, slightly roundish of shape, and they sometimes shine with a bright glow the same color as its eyes(hill beasts usually have green, blue or pale yellow eyes). As previously mentioned, hill beasts mostly resembles dogs, but their legs are longer and the claws at their paws are long and sharp, more like a cat's than a dogs(the claws being retractable). Carnivorous of nature and with a certain dislike for people such as humans(who they often view as little more than animals), hill beasts always run in packs-- seeking out and hunting down anyone they happen to find in their territory. However, what makes the hill beasts truly dangerous is that they can leave their homes during any time of the day, and they are also capable of passing through all but the most powerfull wards unharmed-- neither can they be harmed by iron or steel. The fangs of a hill beasts is also poisonous, but while this venom is not deadly in itself, it paralyzes the prey so the hunting hill beasts can kill or torment at their leisure. As is made obvious by their name, hill beasts make their homes within hills or mounds-- but as there are never any visible entrances to their lairs, exactly how they come and go is uncertain. Some has also suggested that the hill beasts simply seem to live in such places because it is from there they come through Gates from elsewhere. Hill beasts also sometimes ally themselves with the huderfolk of Earth-- as hunting hounds or as guards at their homes or herds of livestock.

Special Abilities: hill beasts are capable of telepathy and teleportation. They also seem to have a certain ability to block magic and remain unaffected
by magical wards. Hill beasts are also capable of turning invisible.

Mental Abilities: hill beasts are highly intelligent, although they do not care much for material things or the technology of 'civilization'. They are also sly, capable of
holding a grudge for their entire lives and quite treacherous(not amongst themselves however).
