Hjidi

General Description: the hjidi is a race originating from Sjirra. While bearing a startling similarity to humans both in appearance and physiology, there are some differences that makes it possible to tell the two races appart. The ears of a hjidi are pointed and they are also a bit 'taller' than a human`s, also their eyes are larger; usually being blue or blue-grey in color. While there are exceptions, most hjidi will have fair hair and skin, their features resembling those found in north-europeeans.
The hjidi society is strictly patriarchial and the women are rarely permitted to leave their home or the planet they live on, depending on how strictly the old traditions are followed localy. However, while hjidi women may be quite restricted in what they are permitted to do, they can still enjoy a certain respect and any man mistreating his wife or the women in his family can expect to be severely punished.
Although such traditions are still very much alive in most hjidi societies, there are groups of hjidi who have chosen to discard the traditions and considers men and women to be completely equal.
As they are a species that have started colonies on dozens of planets, the level of technology used by the hjidi vary quite a lot; some colonies may have been spacefarers for milennias, while others have chosen to remain with a mideval level of 'technology'.

Special Abilities: most hjidi have at least minor telepathy and empathy, and occationally a child with the Talent is born(perhaps one in twenty at the best).

Size at maturity: 5.5-6.3 feet tall.
Time to maturity: 17 years.

Mental Abilities: similar to humans, although being a more empathic race, the hjidi are far less likely to resort to violence.
