Midel Dragons
Description
There are four types of Midel dragon –Amethyst, Obsidian, Pyrite and Jasper.
Average size is 12” high plus tail [which is usually same length as body]. Can change size at will – largest 50 feet from head to tail.
Has arms and legs, has four fingers and opposing thumbs, ditto for feet. Sharp claws.
Has pointed ears, large multicolour eyes that reflect emotions. Wings – 2 section, membrane. Strong legs for springing lift.
Can live wild, but prefers to bond with a partner.
They are sociable creatures and like to live with other dragons and bondmates in weyrs. [A weyr can be any dwelling – cave, large tree, house etc]
Matures at 5 yrs.
Very intelligent. Have great sense of humour.
It is traditional for the dragon names to end in ‘el’
Special abilities
Telepathic, telekinetic, shape shifting – limited to changing size. [When a dragon is asked if he/she really changes size or is it only an illusion, the dragon answers cryptically – ‘it is as you see’. People are still trying to work out what actually happens!] [If you find out the truth, please let me know!]
Females – dominant and largest of all Midel dragons is the Amethyst female. Skin is multi toned purples and lilacs .12”- 14”. mates and clutches once a year, Pregnant 2 months, 4 – 10 eggs. Often produces twins.
Smaller female –Pyrite – gold and silver tones. Average 10”, clutches 2-4 eggs, only Jasper or Pyrite hatch from her clutch.
Males – Dominant male – Obsidian, black sheen with hints of green/red/blue in the light.
11” -13”, prefers to mate and partner an Amethyst female, but will fly a mating flight with a Pyrite.
Smaller male – Jasper, Reddish brown with hints of gold and yellow. 10” –12” never mates with [catches] an Amethyst.
