Kailerthern

General Description: the kailerthern is a unique race of dragons originating from the desert planet Haawen.
The body of a kailerthern are cheeta-like, but somewhat stretched out and the ribbs are clearly showing under the skin even on healthy individuals, giving them an appearance of being too thin. A keilertherns neck is a little less than half the lenght of the body and the head resemble that of a horse`s, but a bit broader and with quite angular features. The jaws and teeth are much like those of a dog, and the eyes are much like those of a cat; often glowing at night. Instead of visible ears, they have a pair of horns curving gently backwards from where the ears of a horse would be. From the Middle of a kailertherns head to the middle of the back, runs a crest of flexible spines which glows and sparkles with a soft opalescent light.
The wings of a kailerthern are narrow with five 'wing-fingers', the thumb and the first finger being shorter than the rest; this making this race of dragons very swift fliers. In kailertherns, the wing-membrane ends over the middle of the hips, this to give room for the horizontal, arrow-head shaped sail that runs down a little over 2/3s of the tail. This sail is suppored by several spines that decreases in lenght down the tail; together winth the wings making a kailerthern capable of gliding through the air over huge distances without much effort.

Special Abilities: all kailerthern are telepathic and have some minor empathy. Other talents are aeromancy, pyromancy, geomancy, limited shapechanging and healing.

Oddities: due to spells cast on them so long ago that no-one can remember the reason for it or who was the one to cast it, no kailerthern can survive for more than a few hours after hatching if they don`t physically merge with a humanoid. When choosing the person it wants to bond with, a kailerthern hatchling will dissolve into a swirling and faintly glowing mist, which will then merge into the dragonet`s Chosen. The Chosen person will not go through any apparent physical changes, but he or she will then share his/her body with the spirit of the kailerthern. Those thus bonded with a kailerthern will then be able to shapechange into a kailerthern at will.
However, if a kailerthern feels that its Chosen are in danger or if the Chosen are about to do something it doesn`t agree with, the kailerthern may simply seize control over their shared body for as long as it see it fit.
It`s possible for a male kailerthern to have a female Chosen and vice versa.

Size at birth: 1-1.4 meters long.
Size at maturity: 20-27 meters long
Time to maturity: 12-15 years.

Mental Abilities: equal to an average to very intelligent human. A kailerthern`s mental strenght is considerable, their ability to remember things are extraordinary; meaning that they rarely forget anything.

Breeding.
How often can the creature get pregnant: every 2 years.
How long between pregnancies: that`s up to the kailerthern and her/his chosen to decide.
How long is it pregnant: 10-12 months.
