Mnrrenrrii Dragon
Homeworld: Earth(one of the many alternative universe ones out there).
Climate/terrain: a heat and sunloving species, mnrrenrrii dragons need as much light and heat throughout the year as possibly to stay healthy and active, which is why they are almost always found in deserts and at savannas and southern plains.
Mental abilities: while just barely passing as a sapient race, the mnrrenrrii are still quite versatile and most of them possess a gentle, if somewhat childish at times, sense of humor. Their behaviour is rather cat-like, and a young mnrrenrrii dragon is quite a handfull to anyone who works with it, due to the often playfull and mischevivous nature of both young and adults. However, being predatory of nature, mnrrenrrii dragons can be a bit unpredictable at times and they won't hesitate to make it clear if they don't like something.
Special Abilities: a slight touch of telekinesis which helps them in the air, and some empathic abilities-- otherwise nothing.
Society: the mnrrenrrii dragons doesn't have a society like most other sapient races, but due to their larger size-- the females are usually found as pride leaders, and they are also more territorial than the males. All younglings have to fend for themselves after hatching, but they are allowed to stay in the territory of the parental pride until approaching maturity, and the adults generally chase away or kill the most dangerous predators.
In the case of tame mnrrenrriis, the rank of the individual is determined by that of the trainer and rider.
Description: lean and long-limbed of build, the body of a mnrrenrrii resembles that of a cat's-- the neck being about 2/3 the lenght of the body and the wedge-shaped head is quite long and narrow. Mnrrenrrii dragons have cat-like eyes which gives them excellent vision, especially in the dark, the eyes are protected by a ridge of small feather-like scales. Both males and females have a crest of five sturdy spikes at their heads, the fifth being attached to a ridged, fan-shaped shield which protects the base of the neck. The neck itself is free of spikes, but a row of spikes attached to each other at the base runs down the back to where the tail begins, which is covered with four rows of blunt-looking ridges which ends in a sharp blade(think alien tail). The wings are long and narrow, with three wing-fingers and a thumb, each ending in a needle-like claw-- a mnrrenrrii's feet are of a similar design. All mnrrenrrii dragons are covered with small and jewel-like scales, the base color is always a metallic chromatic color, and markings of other metallic colors are very common-- neither is it unusual for horns, spikes or claws to have a color other than the usual ivory white.
Specific Physical Statistics.
Size at birth: 1-1.2 meters long.
Size at maturity: 10-14 meters long.
Time to maturity: 6-7 years.
Combat: not particulary fast or agile while on the ground, mnrrenrrii dragons will always fight on the wing if they have a choice. Common tactics are to swoop down to crush or grab an opponent from above, slash an opponent using their rather dangerous tails or dropping rocks and other heavy things at tougher opponents.
If confined to the ground, a mnrrenrrii dragon is still very dangerous as they'll feel cornered, but they usually fight to escape and hide rather than only to kill.
Race weaknesses: the wings of a mnrrenrrii dragon are quite vulnerable due to that several major veins run just below the skin at both wing-arms, and a wing-wounded dragon can quickly bleed to death if not receiving help quickly. Mnrrenrrii dragons does also get slower if the temperature is below 15-17 degrees celcius, and temperatures lower than 5-15 will cause them to go to sleep in order to conserve energy. Prolonged exposure to temperatures below zero without protection, will kill a mnrrenrrii dragon in less than a minute.
