Senethi'ier(Rockdragon)

Homeworld/plane: Sjirra.

Climate/terrain: mountaineous and volcanic areas. However, they are capable of thriving in most temperate and sub-tropical climates without too many problems.

Mental abilities: similar to average to genius-level humans, rockdragons have a tendency to be more war-like however, willingly embracing the fact that someone has to do the fighting if others are to enjoy a safe life.

Special Abilities: like with the other sjirran dragon types, magic is an inate ability to the rockdragons, and many of them have a talent strong enough to allow them to eventually become Mage-level magic users. Rockdragons are also powerfull telepaths, and they are quite good at making telekinesis into a efficent offensive and defensive weapon when in combat.

Society: even for sjirran dragons, the rockdragons are highly sociable, not only among themselves and their kinds but also towards other races-- being quite interested in interacting with other races and learning about their societies and customs. However, unlike their close relatives, it has became custom among them for males and females to remain mostly seperate-- usually only meeting for longer periods of time when an important decition has to be made or to get to know a potential mate better.
While all rockdragons generally choose to become fighters, the type of fighter is determined by an individual's gender; females are larger and are therefore trained in combat methods requiring sheer power, while the males are generally 'hit and run' fighters, used when speed and agility is essential. However, as some females may be small and some males may be larger than usual, it has happened that a male has been allowed to join a group of female fighters and vice versa.
It is also common among rockdragons to tatoo their skin with various patterns, particulary in the case of those with more noticeable colors.

Description: the rockdragons are roughly medium-sized dragons by sjirran standars. 'Constructed' for speed as well as strenght, rockdragons are even leaner of build than other sjirran dragons, not an ounche of excessive fat left in their bodies, and even individuals in excellent health often has their ribs showing beneath the skin. The skin of a rockdragon is slightly ridged-- covered in small knobs which make the skin rougher to the touch than usual for a sjirran dragon, a bit like sandpaper. Their necks are relatively short and their bodies quite long-- so are their tails. A rockdragon's head is narrow and wedge-shaped, two long, slender horns growing out from the back of the skull and twin thorn-shaped horns growing from the back of each cheek-- these being rather sharp. From the back of a rockdragon's head to the tip of the tail runs a ridge of delicate-looking spines connected by skin/membrane which usually is a warm color(unlike the rest of the dragon's skin). The legs are long and sinewy as well, a row of spurs running down the back of the forearm and ankles, the claws are much like those of a cat and can be retracted at the forefeet.
Mostly the skin of the rockdragons will be silver, mercury or cold metallic chromatic colors, but the occational gold, bronze, grey or crystalline individual do occur, even if those may choose to get even more extensive tatoos than what's common, to conceal their more colorfull skins.

Size at birth: 1-1.5 meters long.
Size at maturity:
Females; 50-65 meters.
Males; 25-45 meters.

Time to maturity: 60 years.
Natural lifespan: 1000-1500 years.

Combat: among rockdragons, females generally are the heavy fighters-- entering a combat zone first to take down the larger part of an enemy's defences. Once the females are done, the smaller and quicker males are sent in to clean up the remaining defences-- dealing with anyone still offering a fight, this usually done in a serious of quick passes.

Race weaknesses: one fault in the current generations of rockdragons, due to that emohs were used when engineering them, is that they can sometimes go feral if they are subjected to too much mental and physical stress-- although it does take a lot for them to crack. Due to their size and that they are still capable of using their breathweapon and some magic, a rockdragon gone feral may be extremely dangerous, especially as they can still be rather cunning.
However, while this problem has only recently been discovered, the bioengineerers guild are working with the rockdragon race to fix the genetic flaws causing this problem.
