Ter`lra`ninan

General Description: the Ter`lra`ninan is the symbiotic lifeform that is merged the brain of with all terranians to give that humanoid race full intelligence. In its natural form, a Ter`lra`ninan resemble most of all a structure of needle-like crystals about the size of a human woman`s fist, the 'crystals' being pitch black with the exception of small sparks of various color that occationally seem to dance within them. Despite its very fragile appearance, it would still take several tons of pressure to crush a Ter`lra`ninan, partially because of its ability to completely flatten itself. While they first developed as a parasitic species living in mountainous areas or deep underground of their ancestral planet, the Ter`lra`ninan was put through several genetic changes shortly after being discovered by a spacefaring sprecies.
Highly adaptable, the Ter`lra`ninan are capable of merging with the brain of almost any species(from human-size to orca-size)-- not quite taking over, but the mind of the Ter`lra`ninan symbiote and its host will blend shortly after the physical merge has taken place.
However, a Ter`lra`ninan have almost never been allowed to merge with any species other than the terranians, and once the merging has taken place, it is impossible to seperate it from the host.
Once the merge has taken place, they change the structure of the host`s brain, such a merging also result in a noticeable increase in intelligence. There are also more noticeable external changes; the eyes of the host will turn completely black, the senses also grow considerably stronger and the host become far more healthy-- something that is often obvious in a increased amount of muscle.

Special Abilities: even in their natural state, the Ter`lra`ninan are highly intelligent and they are also quite powerfull telepaths and empaths-- often strenghtening such talents in their hosts. Able to store large amounts of magical or electric energy, they are also quite capable of defending themselves as well as being powerfull magic-users.
