The Huntcraft is the only 'craft' unique to the North, a mix of theory and practice combining the use of whers, canines, and weapons to hunt wherries, wildcats, wild deer, and other various animals. It's halls are not quite halls, more like cots dedicated to breeding whers and canines and developing hunting skills. The huntcraft cot at FarNorth goes by the name Whitemount Cothold, run by Master Hunter Basiron and his gold wher Chuli. Mainly dedicated to whers, the hold also has a good stock of Ebriel Retrievers, Miriel Huskies, and has begun looking at Auslukans. In a weapons sense of thinking, apprentices are trained with longbows, shortbows, and crossbows. The hall is small compared to most halls, because anyone could learn the techniques taught, but a Huntcraft-trained hunter is in much more demand than a holder who can wield a longbow.

Junior Apprentices are taught the basics of weapon work - target practice, maintaining their weapons, and how to use it safely - as well as the basics about using whers and canines and their care. They are not allowed to accompany the older hunters yet, but they are allowed to help with the preparation of the meat and take the used hides to the tanners.

Senior Apprentices are taught more advanced work with their best weapon as well as choosing their path - wher handling, canine handling, or pure weaponry. Those who choose wher handling are given large amounts of instruction before they are even allowed to approach a gold's lair and receive an egg. Even after that, before they are allowed to hunt with their wher they are given individual instruction with an assigned journeyman or master to learn more theory about hunting with whers. Those who choose canine hunting are given three pups to train in groups of three senior apprentices each assigned to a master. They are instructed on how to care for, train, and teach their canines how to hunt to the best of their ability. They are now allowed to go hunting until their pups are eight months old and they are judged to be able to hunt. Those who choose weaponry are trained more in all of the weapons as well as traps, spears, camoflauge, etc.

Note on Whers
~*~

Senior Apprentices can only receive whers after the age of fifteen turns, and if they end up receiving a gold wher they are trained more in taking care of a brooding gold, a clutching gold, and delegating between the eggs and their wher.
