It was quite early in the morning, the sun having started its way up above the horizon only a few minutes ago, and the vineyard was still relatively quiet. Some corvine birds had found a small creature that had crawled into the yard and died sometime during the night. And like always, a variety of insects buzzed back and forth, making nuisances of themselves.
Just about then, a smaller bird swept from a nearby tree-- intent on making a meal of one of the larger insects. It never got that far though, as its body suddenly flashed with fire, burning into ash within the duration of a few seconds.

Next, as the ash floated to the ground and the corvines fled, vines broke or bent as a large number of people and creatures suddenly appeared out of nowhere. And as a bit of dust whirled up around them, each realized that they were no longer where-ever they called home, their shock no less than that of the small groups of local people who had been on their way to work, and who had a clear view of the vineyard..

OOC; a bit of info about my characters races if you want it.
Tca'ier-- http://critters.4.forumer.com/index.php?showtopic=587
Silver eagle-- http://critters.4.forumer.com/index.php?showtopic=645

IC.
Spreading her wings to regain her balance, a huge eagle uttered a cry that was half challenge and half startlement-- before launching herself into the air. Just a look at those around her had convinced her of that the ground was not a safe place to stay. So before taking a proper look at her surroundings and judging if there was anything that could pose a true threat to her, she would make sure that she had put a good distance between herself and the ground.
In the air at least, she would have a far better chance at defending herself if it proved neccessary.

A bit behind most of the other arrivals, was another who reacted to the unexpected change in location a bit less startled. But still, Elleyra was not going to take too many chances, and with a deep rumble she swept her wings forwards. And as those standing too close for her liking stumbled away in startlement, the young dragon was almost amused at the obvious shock in the faces of some of them. It was not surprising though, as few of them had probably ever experienced suddenly being transported to a alien place like this, or-- probably more like being teleported in the first place.
Shards, even she couldn't help but feel some anxiousness when wondering how and why so many had been taken to this place. There was a large number of things that could have caused them to be dropped at this place, some of which just thinking about made her shudder. Also, the absence of magic and similar energies which she could use, was also worrysome.
Glancing around as several of those who had appeared alongside her seemed to decide that running was their best option, she took several steps backwards, trying to decide whether to stay or have a look around.

In the middle of the group, a young man knealt, looking into the display of some sort of electronic gadget that had recently gone blank.
Before standing up, Jarod carefully put the device into the only pocket in his torn black outfit that was not already bulging with some tool or electronic equipment.
Quickly, Jarod scanned the surrounding area taking special note to the newly arrived group of people and creatures. Seeing some alarming forms of creatures and several weapons his survival instincts told him to quickly move away.
Making his way through the crowd he managed to attach two or three small radio transmitters, more or less out of old habit.
Living close to military groups had told Jarod that knowing where they were made surviving a whole lot easier.
Finally making his way from the called ones Jarod turned around, ready to make his rush into hiding.

OOC: Who Jarod managed to tag with a transmitter and wether that character noticed I will leave up to the GM and the players involved.

Panic.

It was the only thing that Kiya could think of. Instead of in her bed just waking up, she was tangled in a vine that crept up the side of a large tree. Her lungs no longer wanted to work, but she didn't want to breath anyway. This is just a dream, this is just a dream, she told herself, finally getting enough sense to force air into her throat. Just get out of this. Just get out of this plant and wake up.

There were others around her. Creatures she had never thought of seeing. Maybe she was dead, and this was the afterlife? This was not the afterlife she had been told about. There were giant birds, and lizard-like creatures, and weird looking humans that had to have been from the far north. She panicked again when she tried to move and got her feet even more tangled in the vine, crying out and ripping at it. Her thin shirt and underclothes were no protection from the chill that was in the air. It was too green to be Egypt.

"The spirits have transported me to a forbidden land," she murmured, looking around in fear as she breathed heavily. Her hands were shaking, clasped at her chest as sort of a shield. "I have betrayed the Gods and my family and I am being punished." Kiya collapsed to her knees as she looked up at the sky, hoping for an answer from the Gods. "Why?"

OOC: No one can understand Kiya, so no one should expect her to respond.

Knowing just about nothing about humans, at least that was what she thought the little wailing creature was, Elleyra watched it warily. She had no idea about why it was behaving as it did, maybe she ought to take a closer look at it...
Scales rustling slightly as she moved, the young dragon took a few steps towards Kiya-- her nostrils flaring as she took in the human's scent. She hesitated slightly, and then she reached out, the digits of her 'hand' closing around the human's waist as she lifted it.

Alerted by the workers who had passed by, a helicopter from a nearby news agency came into sight-- hovering relatively low about a hundred meters away as the people onboard made use of the cameras they had brought. No doubt the local police and others were likely to show up soon, but for the time being they had nothing stopping them from aquiring the first pictures of the strange visitors.

When Kiya saw the creature, all she could do was scream, tripping herself up in the vines worse as she jumped to her feet. "Leave me alone, beast!" she cried out, wishing that she had her knife with her. Kiya had left it in the pocket of her pants, and those were nowhere to be seen. The helicopter only compounded problems, making her scream even more. "I have died and this is the afterlife! I am being punished for the wrongs I have done to my family and I deserve all of this!"

I have to hide, I need to get away from these beasts, she told herself, ripping at the vines until she pulled herself free. Running around the tree, she dove into a thicket and sobbed. I should have never left my family. I was a bad person and this is what I deserve. I want it to be over, I have learned my lesson, my Gods! I have learned my lesson and I will return to my parents. Just let me go back! She looked up at the flying beast in the air and her lungs seized up, the tears continuing to flow.

Already elbowing his way through the middle of the crowd, Jarod heard that hearpiercing female scream again.
Somehow his burning desire to disappear seemed doused by his curiosity.
He stopped and a rushing river of thoughts tried to attract his attention.

She might need help
Help... Jarod had almost forgotten that word. Noone had ever helped him and the times he helped someone else were very few.

Suddenly, some mechanical part of his mind made him aware of the situation he was in. The chopper, however outdated, was a sure sign that this was a world not totally unlike his own.
Knowing humans, this place would soon be swarming with soldiers, policemen and the like. His heroic thoughs were replaced by the logic of a survivalist.

I will find her again, and I will find a way to make her safe.

After making his way through the remaining crowd, he rushed away as fast as he could.
A few moments later he was gone.

OOC: any volunteers to take one of the characters mentioned at the end of the post?

IC.
Hissing in annoyance over the arrival of the helicopter, Elleyra looked around for something to use to get rid of it-- since the use of magic was not an option. And with a glance after the fleeing human female, she turned around to pull a young tree out of the ground. Pulling it quickly through her jaws, efficently removed most of the branches, and whirling around-- she threw it like a spear at the annoying machine. Next she spread her wings and leapt into the air, watching dispassionately as the flying machine was hit by the weapon she had created. Certainly it was not enough to cause any severe damage, but the blow made it veer sideways-- and its controler was certainly startled. Finally another blow, this time Elleyra herself slamming her tail against the side of the machine, sent it completely out of control.

Another strong beat of her wings brought her up above the helicopter, and she watched as it crashed close to the vineyard. Hovering above it, she then looked from the downed machine to the strangers still at in the vineyard-- debating whether to take anything or anyone with her or not.
Certainly she could need someone who was a human to aid her.., though a human of this world would be the most usefull choice...
Preferably it would have to be someone particulary intelligent, and with a proper level of ambition, but for the moment anyone might do-- till she could find someone truly worthy of representing her.

Elleyra turned her head back and forth, her eyes finally spotting two humans in the distance-- both probably on their way to a village further down the road they walked on. With a rustle of her scales, the tca'ier headed in their direction, circling so that she would come at them with the sun behind her.
Since there was no trees or buildings at either side of the road large enough to knock into her wings, flying low to snatch up one of them would not be a problem.

OOC: I'm just going to take these two and instead offer up the man at the vinyard for the taking.

Kiya watched as the giant flying beast was knocked away by the flying lizard, and sighed in relief for the briefest second before she realized the severity of the situation. She was strill in danger from the rest of the creatures, including the two flying things, and the bush wouldn't protect her forever. It scratched her slightly as she pushed through it, moving quickly through a forest and into a field with short, long vines set up on posts. It reminded her slightly of her trip to the far north of the kingdom as a child, but not much. On the other side, past a small building, was another sprout of forest which seemed to move up a large hillside. She would be safe there if she could make it.

Digging her feet into the cool, grassy earth, she ran as quickly as she could down one of the rows surrounded by the vines. Kiya was almost there when a man maybe a few years older than her appeared directly in front of her with a giant wooden barrel, knocking her in the head and sending her out cold.

~*~

Francesca angrily kicked at the gravel of the road, looking at her companion, her brother Marc. "It isn't fair. I have earned my way into college and they refuse to send me. This isn't the middle ages, and I do not want to get married when I am only seventeen years old!" she exclaimed. "You are older than me and you don't have to get married, why do I?"

"Etienne is a nice fellow, I am sure that you will enjoy being his wife if you give it a chance. It isn't like you do not know each other, Francesca. Just give him a chance before you get married and you will see!" Marc rolled his eyes when his sister turned her head. He agreed that it would be more beneficial to the family in the short term if she did get married. It would bring another worker into a family of six girls and one lone son, and the Garand family vineyard would make more money with more farmhands. "Just give him a chance. You can always go to college in the future when we have more money."

Her soft brown curls bouncing around her face, Francesca glared at him. "You say so yourself, but how would you feel if you were being shoved into commitment?" She looked back in front of her and gasped. "Marc, what is that in the sky?" she said as she pointed at the massive creature above them.

Elleyra's eyes narrowed as she hesitated for a moment before making a quick decition. There was advantages and disadvantages with either choice, and maybe taking both would have been the best choice, but for the time being-- she could not be bothered with handling the training of more than one human. Considering the fear and surprise she sensed from both, making some usefull out of one of them would be challenging enough.

Touching down at the ground briefly, Elleyra knocked the female over to get it out of the way, and then she took a secure hold around the male. While she wasn't sure about how sturdy these humans were, she was as carefull as she could, watching the male closely for any signs of that she was truly hurting it.
Then she spread her wings again, lifting her captive up towards her chest to provide some shelter against the wind as she flew upwards.

No doubt there would be more natives swarming throughout the area soon, so she would have to find somewhere she wouldn't be easily found. And of-course it would have to be a place from where the human couldn't easily escape until she had convinced it of that it could gain quite a lot from being her servant.

Francesca screamed as she was knocked away, scraping her side on the gravel road. But the pain from her injury wasn't her problem - it was seeing her older brother being carried away by a dragon (of all things!) was what scared her. "Marc! Marc!" she screamed, picking herself up and running towards the direction where the dragon was heading. "Bring him back!"

Kicking and punching, Marc tried to free himself as he watched his sister pick herself up and try to follow. "Let me go!" he said as loudly as he could, hitting and punched as best as he could. While the thing was squeezing him tightly, he wasn't in much pain - just the fear of being carried away by a monster and watching his sister. "Please put me down, you do not want to eat me! I am very bony and skinny."

The monster and her brother quickly disappeared, and Francesca stared for a split second before she started running towards the town. "Something took my brother! He's been kidnapped by a monster! A dragon! A dragon!"
